Testimony on Energy Star from Bud and Bonnie Clark Just thought we would share with you a few thoughts regarding our “Five Star Energy Home” here in the Villas of Deer Valley. Keeping the ever rising cost of energy in mind, our utility bills here in Deer Valley are lower than the last two homes we lived in for the twenty-one years prior to moving here, and both homes theoretically had “high efficiency” furnaces. We are always comfortable, even in the worst of weather conditions, and the installation and operation of the furnace is such that you cannot even hear it run. A good example of the difference here is our sunroom. It has exposure to the elements on three sides and faces the prevailing weather. It is almost entirely glass on all three sides and floor to ceiling. However, it is generally the most comfortable room in the house regardless of the season. That speaks very well for the Pella windows and the construction and insulation. Another example would be the use of our two fireplaces. We are so well constructed and insulated that lighting either one of the fireplaces almost requires that the furnace be turned down or windows opened as they easily raise the temperature in the house above a comfortable level. That’s efficiency! In closing, we have been, and continue to be, very pleased with our home from a utilities cost efficiency and comfort level standpoint. Keep up the excellent work.
