Spring is in the air ... a good time to check your home to be sure it's free of winter damage and ready for the spring rains and summer heat. Don't forget to check for loose or missing shingles and siding, plugged eaves troughs, make sure water is carried away from the foundation, that windows and doors are properly caulked, that painted wood surfaces are protected by a good coat of paint, that your sump pump is working properly and etc.

If you don't feel qualified or don't have the time, consider hiring a home inspection company or qualified contractor. Making repairs before small issues become big problems can save money in the long run and your house will thank you for the attention.
